Continuing Professional Development
We are committed to ensuring that all staff have access to an excellent standard of training and professional development. We know that the heart of achieving ‘Personal Excellence’ for our students is achieving ‘Personal Excellence’ for our staff. CPD may be whole staff, department, individual, online or in person. For all our staff we have a ‘’centralised strand which is a core offer of essential training alongside an ‘individualised strand’ which is bespoke dependent on role and stage of career.
Accessing Professional Development Opportunities
Information on any external courses and programmes provided by professional organisations nationally and locally such as NPQ qualifications or those offered by the Chartered College, are published as they become available. The school also offers in-house training which focuses on whole school development priorities such as literacy and improving outcomes for disadvantaged students and these are delivered by outstanding teachers from within the staff body. Likewise, in-house and external leadership programmes are on offer for those hoping to progress on a leadership route. There will also be occasions on which staff are directed to take up training opportunities because they are related to specific areas for development for a subject area or for the school. In essence, training is available to address the development needs of all staff, to encompass teachers, leaders, support staff, learning support professionals, site staff and admin personnel. We have recently invested in CPD tracker which is a programme allowing us to work with staff own career targets and identify CPD opportunities to more closely support staff aspirations whatever their role in the school or stage of career.

Guest Speakers
We place emphasis on providing quality CPD for all our staff. In the past few months we have run top quality training from providers such as Bill Rogers - the internationally renowned behaviour expert whereby we hosted the event for our staff and several other invited school representatives. This year we have also welcomed literacy expert Jane Branson and have Sonia Gill booked in for later in the year.

Guest Speaker
Dr. Bill Rogers taught for many years before becoming an education consultant and author; he lectures widely on behaviour management, discipline, effective teaching, stress management and teacher welfare across the UK and Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Bill also works as a mentor-teacher, team-teaching in challenging schools. He is well aware of the challenges of teacher leadership in schools today.
