Total of 160 marks - 2 Papers, each work 50% (80 marks)

Language Paper 1
Explorations in creative reading and writing
I hour 45 minutes
Reading Section
Q1 - selecting information (4 marks)
Q2 - analysing language (8 marks)
Q3 - analysing structure (8 marks)
Q4 - critical evaluation (20 marks)
Writing Section
Q5 - descriptive or narrative writing. (40 marks: 24 marks for AO5 and 16 marks for AO6).

Language Paper 2
Writers' viewpoints and perspectives
1 hour 45 minutes
Reading Section
Q1 - selecting information (4 marks)
Q2 - summary question, both sources (8 marks)
Q3 - analysing language (12 marks)
Q4 - comparative essay (16 marks)
Writing Section
Q5 - argumentative or persuasive writing. Usually a response to a statement. (40 marks: 24 marks for AO5 and 16 marks for AO6).
