Use of Images and IT

The following documents are designed to ensure the safeguarding of out students, whilst being able to experience and benefit from the opportunities available to them through the use of technology in school.

Students will be required to accept these rules the first time they log onto the school ICT system at the start of each academic year.

The school can give students' access to the Wi-Fi through the student's own personal devices in order to facilitate BYOD.

BYOD is short for 'Bring Your Own Device'.  Bring your own device is the concept of allowing staff and students to bring their own personal mobile devices into school and be able to access ICT services. These mobile devices can then be used by students to support their learning in class. Our view is that the majority of students make use of smartphones and tablets, are highly proficient in their use and that these devices can be effectively used as a "digital pencil case" in school.

There is a permissions form which needs to be completed in this respect and returned to the school. You, as the named parent/carer, can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to the school.

The school has a duty to provide a safe environment for students. While we are aware of the risk of image misuse, we believe that the school needs to balance this against the positive value of professional, high quality images or video of students, celebrating and promoting the school as an enjoyable and vibrant place to learn. Good pictures of the school and its children can help in putting the school at the heart of the local community and enhance its reputation.
