Year 7 students have been “reading, raising and being amazing” for the charity Read for Good. This charity provides books and storytellers for children in hospital.
The Readathon was launched during a Reading for Pleasure year group assembly and promoted during English lessons.
It was great to see so many students in Year 7 engaging with reading for pleasure.
Through the sponsored read, students were able to develop strands 3, “social reading environments”, and 5, “reading communities that are reciprocal and interactive”. The sponsored read provided the opportunity to build a social reading community that demonstrated empathy with others through the charity Read for Good.
